The Dominican Republic’s national airline is currently Caribair (the previous airline, Air Santo Domingo, ceased business in 2006), and the company offer flights from a number of locations in the Americas, including the US. Flights from Britain are available through connecting fares, usually via Miami through American Airlines. Other operators offering flights to the country include Air France, Condor, Martinair, Continental Airlines and Iberia Flights from London to Santo Domingo take at least 11 hours, not taking into account changeover and waiting times. Miami to Santo Domingo clocks in at around two hours fifteen minutes. Santo Domingo’s airport offers taxi services into the city, along with a bank, car hire, bars and restaurants. The same services can be expected of the DR’s other international airports in Puerto Plata and Punta Cana.
